Each student will be issued a laptop device. Students are responsible for their devices. Parents will incur all costs for damaged devices and lost or damaged power chargers.

Students are responsible for the general care and proper use of the issued BCS 1:1 device per the Technology Responsible Use and Internet Safety policies and this BCS Student Device User Guide.

Student Device Procedures

  • The BCS 1:1 device should NEVER be taken to an outside computer repair service for any type of repair or maintenance.
  • Students should never attempt to repair a device, take the BCS 1:1 device apart, remove its parts, etc.
  • Students are expected to bring their fully charged BCS 1:1 device to school daily and bring the BCS 1:1 device to all classes as directed by the teacher.
  • Students must never share their account password with other students.
  • Inappropriate media may not be used as BCS 1:1 device backgrounds or themes. Examples of inappropriate media include, but are not limited to, the presence of guns, weapons, pornographic materials, inappropriate language, alcohol, drugs, gang-related symbols or pictures. The use of any inappropriate media will result in disciplinary action.
  • Never transport the BCS 1:1 device with the power cord plugged in.
  • Always place food or drink far away from the BCS 1:1 device.
  • Always carefully attach cords, cables, and removable storage devices.
  • Never lift the BCS 1:1 device by the screen.
  • Keep the BCS 1:1 device’s fan vents free from obstruction.
  • Never use the BCS 1:1 device with the power cord plugged in when the cord may be a tripping hazard.
  • Avoid subjecting the BCS 1:1 device to extreme conditions. (e.g. extreme hot or cold, rain, damp locations, etc.)
  • BCS 1:1 device must remain free of any writing, drawing, etching, or stickers that are not CAEMS/BCS stickers.
  • Under no circumstances should the BCS 1:1 device be left in any unsupervised areas. Unsupervised areas include the school grounds, the cafeteria, vehicles, bathrooms, the library, unlocked classrooms, gyms, and hallways. If a BCS 1:1 device is found in an unsupervised area, it should be taken to the media center. 
  • Do not leave the BCS 1:1 device lying flat on the floor.  We suggest leaning the BCS 1:1 device vertically against the wall, if it is placed on the floor.
  • Any issues not covered in this document will be reviewed/addressed by the administration.
