Enka Intermediate School would like to recognize fifth grade ELA teacher, Daniel Burbank, for achieving his National Board certification. According to the North Carolina Department of Public Instruction (NCDPI), "National Board Certification, offered by the National Board for Professional Teaching Standards (NBPTS), is a way to recognize the exceptional teaching practices taking place in North Carolina's classrooms. The certification process is based on high and rigorous standards that evaluate teaching practice through performance-based assessments." Mr. Burbank states, "Anytime teachers can take time to step back, reflect on their practice, and really engage with what impacts students for the best - this is beneficial for all. This is what the National Board process has allowed me to do and will continue to do. It isn't easy, but it is worth it! " Mr. Burbank joined the EIS faculty this year, and has been an incredible asset to our school. We could not be prouder of his accomplishments!
