Greetings and welcome to 7th Grade Social Studies on the Appalachian State Mountaineer Team.  I am ecstatic to be working with your students throughout the year.  We have a lot of history to cover in 180 days so we will be moving quick throughout the curriculum.
Just a little bit about me - I grew up just outside of Atlanta, Georgia and moved to Neenah, Wisconsin just shy of the end of 8th Grade.  I graduated with my Bachelor's degree from the University of Wisconsin - La Crosse in 2010. I graduated with my Masters Degree in Curriculum and Instruction from Gardner-Webb University in August 2017.  Essentially, I learned how to be a better teacher for your student. I moved down to Asheville solely to be an Erwin Warrior!  I'm starting year EIGHT at Erwin, and I can't wait to explore World History this year!
Your students are awesome, and I truly enjoy working with them every single day.  I have two important goals while your student is in my class this year.   First, I want your student to challenge ideas and be challenged by different views.  This means students will be able to take a stance on an issue, research that issue and present their findings to convince others.   Second, I want your student to be a social, moral being productive to society. In class, you student will be asked to respond and reflect about the topic at hand through writing, reading, speaking, thinking, and moving.
Please check with your student about access to PowerSchool .  There is a lot of important information for you and your student to see!

Ask your student what they are learning about in class.  I want them to be proud of the work they produce in class.

Please feel free to email me at if you have any questions, comments, or concerns.
