"Every child deserves a champion– an adult who will never give up on them, who understands the power of connection, and insists they become the best they can possibly be." -Rita Pierson
I was born and raised in eastern North Carolina and have lived in the Asheville area since 1997. My Native American ethnicity combined with being raised in a military family, have allowed me a unique view of diversity in our ever-changing world. My life has brought me various opportunities and experiences that have shaped my perspectives and allow me to keep an open mind towards the students, families, and the school community as a whole. I know that I am able to embark upon an educational career with a blending of my experiences.
I hold a bachelor's degree from Mars Hill University in Middle Grades language arts and social studies, with a minor in business, as well as a Master's in administration from Gardner-Webb University. In addition to my 12 years of classroom experience, I have been involved with curriculum development and served on county and school-wide leadership teams. I have also had the pleasure to serve as an athletics coach for several years.
I want to continue being a positive influence for the school community, as well as continue to encourage students to be as successful as I know they can be! I know that being a highly qualified educator and administrator brings many responsibilities to my career, as well as my personal life. I know that my new role as an administrator will bring fresh challenges, and I look forward to working with staff, students, families, and the community to meet them. I am excited to be a part of the Erwin Warrior family and look forward to a wonderful school year.
